Challenging Environmental Pollution
Art Medium: Theater
Partner: Sega Girls Secondary School

Location: Morogoro, Tanzania
Artist: Florence Mkinga

"Littering and dumping is a huge problem in our community — a dirty environment can lead to the outbreak of disease. One way we are helping educate the community is by teaching our peers how to transform useless materials into useful ones."
- Naya, Sauti ya Dada club member

The girls of Sega Girls Secondary School noticed a persistent problem on their campus: excessive littering. To educate their peers on proper recycling and waste disposal practices, the girls came together with artist Florence Mkinga and mentor Pauline Rusisye to create a skit to present to the community.

Their goal was to transform engrained habits of waste mismanagement and misconceptions and create environmental consciousness among their peers.
